Hakim Optical

You have probably heard the name of “Hakim Optical“. A trusted name in eyewear for more than 39 years and an unbeatable selection of frames, lenses, contacts, sunglasses and protective eyewears. Today Hakim Optical has about 120 locations in Canada and United States. But do you know who Hakim is?

Sir Karim Hakimi is known as one of the most successful people in Iranian community in Canada. A boy who started to work at age nine to help his poor family in Tehran, Iran. By the time he was 19, he was in Germany grinding precious lenses for instruments. Before immigrating to Canada in the mid-1960s he went to Switzerland to pursue his career and and then arrived in Toronto to open the first Hakim Optical on Elm Street.

“I have pretty good vision,” Hakim says. “But I need glasses for reading small print in bad light.”

“On a good day, the company, with head-quarters in Toronto, sells as many as 1,000 pairs of prescription glasses at its more than 70 showrooms and 45 one-hour factory outlets. In fact, since he opened shop in the former Elmwood Hotel in 1967, Karim Hakim has sold over 14 million pairs of glasses!” digitaljournal.com
These pictures are taken at Queen Street. Kamal suffers from his eyeglasses and It’s really bothering him. We went to Hakim Optical to buy a new eyeglasses for him.
